If you have been looking for beagle puppies for sale it’s important to interview all potential breeders before making any final decisions. Knowing exactly what to ask a Beagle breeder can be extremely helpful. Interviewing any dog breeder may seem a little overwhelming considering that most reputable breeders are experts when it comes to the particular breed. However, asking the right questions can make the interview a relatively painless process. When considering beagle puppies and breeders there are some breed specific questions that you definitely need to ask. You should take some time and try and learn as much about beagle puppies on your own before you decide to talk to a breeder. Being armed with information can only help you.

  1. One of the first questions you’ll want to ask a beagle breeder is what type of lifestyle they feel a Beagle would require. Beagles are the type of dog that do not like being left alone for long periods of time. They tend to crave companionship. A good response to this question would be that beagles require a good deal of attention. They will not do well on their own if left alone for too long. It’s not uncommon for buyers to purchase two beagle pups at the same time. While this may seem like a lot of work, it actually makes things easier on everyone involved.
  2. You will also want to ask about grooming requirements. Beagle puppies do not have very thick coats and this will stay the same as they grow up. They have a short coat that doesn’t require much attention. There really isn’t any need to brush a beagle. Periodic baths are usually sufficient. Beagles do however have long ears that need to be kept clean. They are prone to ear infections and it’s important to stay on top of them.
  3. One of the most important questions you should ask any dog breeder is the amount of exercise that your new puppy requires. Most puppies are full of energy and they will need to burn it somehow. As a beagle grows up they will need moderate exercise. However, this doesn’t mean that they like to be inside. Beagles were first used as hunting dogs, and outside is really where they like to be. Beagles enjoy tracking new scents which can get often get them into trouble. It’s important that you have you pup on a leash if you are walking them in a park. If they pick up on a scent they will take off and it’s rather difficult to get them to come back. Beagle puppies would really love a brief jog in the park or a brisk daily walk.
  4. One of the most important questions you’ll want to ask the breeder is if you can see the parents of the beagle puppies. A reputable Beagle breeder will have no problem with this as most breeders will have the parents on the premises. If a breeder is reluctant about showing you the puppy’s parents or becomes uncomfortable when asked, then they probably do not want you to see them or they do not own them at all. This is an immediate red flag and it’s not a breeder you will want to deal with.
  5. Asking about how many different breeds of dogs the breeder deals with is a crucial question as well. Most reputable breeders usually stick to only one type of dog simply because they are experts in that breed. If a breeder has beagle puppies for sale along with, Labrador Retrivers, Bull Mastiffs, Yorkies, Rottweilers, etc. then they probably are not in it for the love of the breed. Many times these people are running puppy mills and they are simply in it for the money. You really want to avoid anything like this because puppies that come from puppy mills usually have a lot of problems.

It is extremely important to interview all potential breeders when looking for beagle puppies for sale. Make sure you ask all the above questions and feel free to add any additional questions that we may have left out. The more you know, the better off you will be.
