I don't normally care for "holistic" feeds. Most are gimmicky, lack feeding trials/research & development that larger companies place behind their brand, are excessively grainy, or worse, grain free ...
But Merrick Grammys Pot Pie Dog Food
It's what I call a low maintenance feed. There is no need to give any supplements or other coat products with Merrick; while it is pricier than some brands, the chelated minerals and other extras add to the nutritional value. Their skin/coat is in show condition from the food alone.
Coats are always thick, never oily or flat, teeth stay relatively clean, it does not bother Beagle ears that are succeptable to yeast infections. Beagles are also prone to watery urine, so the blueberries for urinary tract health DO noticeably cut down on frequency of urination as opposed to other dry feeds.
The best feature of this food, though, has to be the even energy level it produces. Two of the first three ingredients are meat based protein, so the food is naturally lower in carbs. There are no "sugar rushes" from any of Merrick's dry foods; no hyper dogs that cannot calm down or focus. Which means it is not spiking blood sugar - and dogs are healthier in the long term.
Currently using this on dogs from 6 months to 9yrs, of varying activity levels, and all are doing well. Don't let the price scare you away! I cannot recommend this highly enough!!!
